Q01What is IELTS for UKVI?+
IELTS for UKVI is a Secure English Language Test (SELT) approved by UK Visas & Immigration. The test content and Band 0-9 scoring are the same as standard IELTS, but it is taken at a Home Office-approved session and your Test Report Form is marked as UKVI-approved, so it is accepted wherever a UKVI-approved SELT is required.
Q02How is IELTS for UKVI different from regular IELTS?+
The exam itself is the same; the difference is that IELTS for UKVI is sat at an approved UKVI session and the certificate is recognised by the Home Office. If your application asks for a SELT, you must book the UKVI version, because a standard IELTS will not be accepted, and re-sitting is the most common avoidable cost we see.
Q03What is IELTS Life Skills?+
IELTS Life Skills tests only Speaking and Listening and is graded pass or fail. It comes in three levels (A1, A2 and B1) taken where an application asks for a Speaking and Listening test at one of those levels. Registration is ₦298,500.
Q04How much does IELTS for UKVI cost in Nigeria in 2026?+
