IELTS for UKVI is a Secure English Language Test (SELT) approved by UK Visas & Immigration. The questions and the Band 0-9 scoring are identical to standard IELTS. The difference is that you sit it at a Home Office-approved session, and your Test Report Form is stamped as UKVI-approved so the Home Office accepts it.

If your visa route asks for a SELT, you must book the UKVI version, because a standard IELTS will not be accepted, and re-sitting is the most common avoidable cost we see.

Skilled Worker routes generally require English at CEFR B1. That can be met with IELTS for UKVI (General Training or Academic) or IELTS Life Skills B1. We confirm the exact requirement for your job and sponsor before you book.
