Canada · the honest route, post-2024

From Nigeria toCanada

One team to take you from a test score to a Canadian campus: the right school, your study permit, the new rules and all. No shortcuts that no longer exist.

The short version

Canada changedthe rules.

In late 2024 the fast lanes closed. The Nigeria Student Express and the SDS are gone. Every applicant now goes through the regular study permit stream, and the bar on funds, attestation letters and genuine plans is higher than it used to be.

That is not bad news. It just means done properly or not at all. A real school, a real Letter of Acceptance, a Provincial Attestation Letter, honest funds, a clear plan. Get those right and Canada is very much open. That is the part we handle.

Interactive · The journey, step by step

The path to a permit.

Six stages take you from a shortlist to a Canadian campus. Tap each to see what it is, and the honest catch.

Stage 01

Pick a DLI and program

Your school must be a Designated Learning Institution, the only kind that can host international students. We match you to a DLI and a program that fits your goal, your grades and your budget.

The catch

Not every college qualifies, and the wrong choice can sink a permit. Picking a real DLI is step one for a reason.

Stage 02

Get your Letter of Acceptance

You apply, and an admitted offer becomes a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from your DLI. That LOA is the document everything else is built on.

The catch

Admission is the school's decision, never ours to promise. We make your application as strong as it can honestly be.

Stage 03

Get your attestation (PAL)

Most applicants now need a Provincial Attestation Letter, a newer requirement that confirms your spot counts against the province's allocation. Your school helps issue it.

The catch

This is one of the 2024 changes. Rules and exemptions shift, so we confirm exactly what your case needs.

Stage 04

Prove your funds

You show you can pay tuition and support yourself, commonly through a Guaranteed Investment Certificate plus tuition payment. The funds must be real and traceable.

The catch

The required living-cost amount was raised recently. We never quote a fixed figure, we confirm the current number with you.

Stage 05

Apply for the study permit

With LOA, PAL and funds in hand, you apply through the regular study permit stream, give biometrics, and sometimes a medical or police check. We prepare and review the whole file.

The catch

The old 20-day fast-track is gone. Timelines vary, so we plan early and never promise a date or an outcome.

Stage 06

Arrive and study

You travel, start your program, and can usually work limited hours. After you finish, work and residency pathways may open, on their own separate rules.

The catch

Working hours, post-study work and PR all have their own changing rules, and none is guaranteed by a study permit.

Why so many still choose it

Why Canada.

Tighter rules have not changed why Canada is worth it. These are the reasons it stays near the top of the list.

01

Work while you study

Most students can work limited part-time hours during term and more on breaks. The cap changed recently, so we confirm the current limit.

02

Work after you graduate

A Post-Graduation Work Permit can let you work in Canada after finishing. Eligibility tightened lately and depends on your program, so it is never automatic.

03

Pathways to stay

Canada has real routes from study to work to permanent residency, through Express Entry and provincial programs. Real, but separate and never guaranteed.

04

Strong, recognised degrees

Canadian colleges and universities are globally respected, with strong links between study, research and the job market.

05

Safe and welcoming

A stable, multicultural country with large, well-established communities, including many Nigerians, in most major cities.

06

Family options

Some students can be joined by family, though spouse and dependant rules were tightened recently. We check what applies to your situation.

Interactive · What it actually takes

What you need.

Four boxes have to be ticked for a study permit. Tap each to see what it means now, after the 2024 changes.

AdmissionLOA + PAL

A Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution, plus, for most applicants, a Provincial Attestation Letter. Both must come from a school that can legally host international students.

FundsGIC + tuition

Proof you can cover tuition and living costs, commonly a Guaranteed Investment Certificate plus your first tuition payment. The living-cost requirement rose recently, so we confirm the current amount rather than quote an old one.

LanguageIELTS · CELPIP · more

An accepted English test such as IELTS, CELPIP, TOEFL or PTE, at the level your program asks for. We prepare you and, for IELTS and our ETS tests, you can sit them with us.

The permitRegular stream

You apply through the regular study permit stream, the only route now that SDS and NSE have ended, plus biometrics and sometimes a medical or police check. We prepare and check the full file.

The rules moved in 2024 and keep moving. Treat this as the shape of it. We confirm the exact, current requirement for your school and province before you commit a naira.

Work, and what comes after

Study, work, stay.

Canada's draw is the road beyond the classroom. Here is how work and residency fit together, with the honest caveats.

During study

Part-time work

Most students can work off campus a limited number of hours during term, and full-time on scheduled breaks. The weekly cap changed recently, so we confirm the current limit before you rely on it.

Built into your course

Co-ops and placements

Many programs include paid co-ops or internships. From 2026 these placements no longer need a separate work permit, which makes work-integrated study simpler.

After you graduate

Post-Graduation Work Permit

Finishing an eligible program can open a PGWP to work in Canada. Eligibility tightened and now depends on your field and school, so it is never automatic.

The long game

Pathways to PR

Canadian study and work experience can feed routes to permanent residency through Express Entry and provincial programs. Real, but a separate process with its own bar, and never guaranteed.

Interactive · Prove your English

Which test.

Canadian schools accept several English tests. Tap each to see what it is and where we fit in.

IELTSWe are a center
The most widely accepted, almost everywhere.

Accepted by Canadian schools and immigration alike. As a British Council IELTS center, you can prepare and sit it with us.

CELPIPCanadian test
Built in Canada, for Canada.

A fully computer-based Canadian English test, popular for study and immigration. We run dedicated CELPIP preparation to get you ready for its format.

TOEFLETS test center
Widely accepted by universities.

Recognised by many Canadian institutions. As an authorised ETS test center, you can prepare and test with us.

PTEComputer-based
Fast, fully computer-marked.

Accepted by a growing number of Canadian schools and now for many immigration purposes too. We advise whether it suits your target programs.

Which test, and what score, depends on your school and program. We match the test to your targets so you sit the right one once, not the wrong one twice.

What it really costs

The money, plainly.

Costs split into what you pay your school and the government, and our separate service fee. We will not pin you to figures that move.

01

Tuition

Set by your school and varies widely by program and province. We help you target options that fit your budget.

02

Proof of funds

You must show living-cost funds, often via a GIC, on top of tuition. This amount was raised recently, so we confirm the current figure.

03

Government fees

The study permit and biometrics carry set fees paid to Canada. They change, so we confirm the current amounts rather than guess.

04

The GIC

A Guaranteed Investment Certificate is money you set aside and draw down in Canada. It is your money, held to prove you can support yourself.

05

Travel and setup

Flights, first rent, insurance and getting settled. Worth budgeting for honestly so the first months are calm.

06

Our service fee

Separate from all of the above, with plain pricing for the support package you choose. No hidden extras.

We deliberately do not print fixed government or living-cost figures here. They are set by others and they change, so we confirm the current numbers with you before you commit to anything.

Your English test

Our Canada support is a paid service, and government and school fees are separate. Canada's rules changed a lot recently and keep changing, so we confirm the current requirements, and no one can promise a permit or PR. Be wary of anyone who does.

The Canada questions

Canada, answered.

Is there still a Nigeria Student Express or SDS fast-track?

No. Both the Nigeria Student Express and the Student Direct Stream ended in November 2024. Every applicant now uses the regular study permit stream, so be cautious of any service still selling the old fast-track.

What is the difference between a study permit and a visa?

The study permit is what lets you study in Canada. Alongside it you are issued the entry document you travel on, either a temporary resident visa or an electronic travel authorisation. We handle both parts together.

What is a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)?

A newer document, introduced in 2024, that most study permit applicants now need. It confirms your place counts within the province's allocation. Your school helps issue it, and we make sure it is in your file.

How much money do I need to show?

Enough for tuition plus living costs, usually through a Guaranteed Investment Certificate and your tuition payment. The living-cost figure was raised recently, so we confirm the current amount with you rather than quote one that may be out of date.

Can I work while I study?

Usually yes, a limited number of hours off campus during term and full-time on breaks. The weekly cap changed recently, so we confirm the current limit. After graduation, an eligible program can open a Post-Graduation Work Permit.

Can you guarantee a study permit or PR?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who claims they can. The decision rests entirely with Canadian officers. We prepare the strongest, most honest file possible and have guided many students through it.

Which English test should I take for Canada?

IELTS, CELPIP, TOEFL or PTE, depending on your school and program. We match the test to your targets, prepare you, and for IELTS and our ETS tests you can sit them with us.
