Where the GRE is held in Nigeria
The computer-based GRE General Test is offered in Nigeria at centres in Lagos, Abuja and Owerri. Wherever you live, you can register through Mafit Study Centre, an awarded ETS partner, and be assigned to the nearest available GRE centre and date.
Computer-based GRE only
Almost every Nigerian candidate sits the computer-based GRE, which is the standard delivery mode. A paper-based GRE is very rarely used in Nigeria, so unless your situation specifically calls for it, you will take the computer-delivered test at one of the GRE centres above.
Registering from any state
You do not need to live in Lagos or Abuja to book. GRE registration is completed online from any of the 36 states, including Rivers, Oyo, Kano, Enugu, Edo and Kaduna, and you simply travel to your chosen GRE centre on test day.
GRE subject tests in Nigeria
Alongside the General Test, a few GRE Subject Tests (such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and Literature in English) can be arranged in Lagos, Abuja and Owerri. You only need a subject test if your target programme specifically asks for one.
What you sit at the centre
At the centre you take the redesigned, shorter GRE, which now runs in under two hours, with one Analytical Writing task, two Verbal Reasoning sections and two Quantitative Reasoning sections. Verbal and Quant are each scored 130 to 170.
